Definitely worth seeing is this season’s collection of Anne Fontaine. Here work is simple and sexy, and each of her pieces seem fresh but accessible. I’m in love. BTW, the website is lovely.

Graff Diamonds of London is the place to go for those in the need of some serious bling.

Here’s a simple, elegant design from David Yurman. I can’t tell if it’s perfectly retro or just grandmotherish. Maybe both.

What could be sexier than a pearl necklace by Mikimoto? I’m starting to see a trend here. I’m guessing the demographics of the typical New York Times reader is a Goldman Sachs employee.

And if the Goldman Sachs employee needs to tell time? Go for the Chanel J12.

After seeing such amazing opulence, the Fendi Zucca Bag available at eLuxury seems almost a bargain at a grand.

Ralph Lauren has taken out a full page ad for their Blue Label Summer collection. Now that summer is coming to a close, the Martinique collection is on sale. For instance, this T-shirt pictured above is on sale for $99 marked down from $125. What a bargain!

The Love Ring by Cartier is feature on page 6 which I have already covered a while back. It is quite lovely. Cartier, if you’d like to send me a sample, I’m game.

I. I. I… (catch your breath, Brandon!) Miu Miu is a fashion brand that just does it for me. I’m including a picture from their Summer 2007 collection that is a masterpiece of fashion photography. The image is hot, fresh, nostalgic, jaw dropping… it just gets to me. I’m sorry that this may be inappropriate to some readers, but when I look at Miu Miu fashion I get a stirring… down there. It makes me grunt.

The Chloe Blue Hemp Toile Shirtwaister is about the cutest thing I’ve seen in a while. The whole spring collection from Chloe is a bit on the retro side, and each piece looks perfectly selected for pregnant women. But, according to my wife, the pregnant look is in this season. I would tend to agree.

It’s a really beautiful day out today, so I’ve decided to skip the smaller ads and just get to the back page: Target. Yes. You heard me right. That hub of style has invited Devi Kroell to step in and take over a collection which is prominently displayed as a full page ad on the back of the Styles section. Devi’s own collections are quite lovely. They’re a bit garish for my tastes, though. So, it’s nice to find that I like the Target collection even better then her own couture collection. By the way, the price is right on the Target collection at only $30 for this clutch handbag shown above. Whoa!

That was pretty fun, but I’d rather linger over one product than write a short sentence about several products. This experiment may be a failure. If you only knew how much time it took to get here. Ugh.

Here is an early concept store for fine objects that was brought to my attention via Imedagoze via MocoLoco via who knows how many other blogs. The store’s name is Bouf.com, and they want to sell you some serious stuff. There are only twelve things available at the moment, so It’s kind of looking like a badly abused Ebay store with a nice wrapper. That will change, I would guess. They’ve made a nice start, and it’s only up from here. It appears to be similar in concept to Etsy.com, but not quite up to Etsy standards. That site blows my mind. After all, this is the store I would love to do (with the exception of the colors) if I had the cojones to quit my job and make zero dollars for about a year.

What is MMAP? I don’t really know. I just made it up. But I’m thinking it might stand for Massively Multiuser Art Projects (a take on MMOGs which is a real acronym). “What kind of art projects do you speak of?” you ask. Fine question. Take, for instance, organisations like pillowfightclub.org that orgainze thousands of people to partake in a pillow fight on a massive scale. Their latest foray was in Los Angeles on April 1st. Unfortunately for the pillow fighters, the cops down in LA are a bit more tech savvy than our SF counterparts, and got wiff of the happening. Check out All Things Mau to see what happened. Hmm. There’s no point to this paragraph, really. But it’s kind of fun watching pillow fighters get busted.

I’ve never heard of this blog before called Spluch, but I was intrigued by their coverage of the 2006 Hong Kong Footwear Design Competition. I’m a borderline shoe fetishist. However, the pictures Spluch has posted have put me off shoes for a while. I’m hoping that the shoes featured in this post were not the winners, because if they are, then I might suggest that beautiful shoes might best be left to the Italians to design.

Finally, I just can’t keep away from We Make Money Not Art’s blog. This publication has, consistently, the most exciting posts I’ve read on art and design. Here is yet another post of an interview with Myriel Milicevic concerning the recent Human Powered workshop held in Antwerp. The workshop explores how to design machines that will perform functions with only the human body powering it that go well beyond the bicycle. If you are interested in green design, this is definitely one of the more exciting and creative realms being explored. Definitely check out the interview.

(This is really starting to become a habit) I will provide a few links to some of the best reading I’ve done in the past week.

A good start would be to mention a nicely constructed article at WMMNA highlighting an exhibit at the Z33 gallery in Hasselt, Belgium. The exhibit is called “Designing Critical Design”, and the author highlights thought provoking works including the “huggable atomic mushroom for people afraid of nuclear disasters”. You get the point. Critical Design is taking everyday design, such as a pillow, and contrasting that with tough cultural questions such as nuclear weapons. The affect of such design explorations are profound, often times.

I spent some time looking through my own favorite SF site: Fecal Face. Those interested in new art with an emphasis on the West Coast should have a look at this site. They really have a ton of great stuff going on here. The thing that’s been turning my crank lately is Fecal Face’s Free Fridayz. This is a sort of themed drawing contest with prizes and all. The entries are all across the board weird, as you can see from the last Free Fridayz, but that’s most of the fun. here’s some info for next week:

…and speaking of art battles. How about the amazing and awesome Secret Wars happening in locations all over England. What is it? Imagine the giants of UK graffiti battling it out in a crowded club with only two hours to create genius art. That’s a lot of pressure. But they have the skillz with a capital Z. Thanks to my new favorite blog, FeedMeCoolSHit.com for throwing me a bone. I just wish we could build a west coast crew to compete. Imagine Twist, Bigfoot, Shepard Fairey, Sam Flores, David Choe, and so many other masters at their craft stepping in and smoking theses UK crews. Let’s bring Secret Wars worldwide!

…and speaking of absolutely sick West Coast artists. If you want an inside look at the lives of some of the artists you may have seen around, Upper Playground has asked some of their favorite artists (many West Coast) to write a blog. David Choe, arguably the most raw talent in the crew (I love Choe’s long whales!), has really taken the blogging to heart a written some hilarious and revealing posts. I don’t know if he realizes this, but he could easily be as good of a writer as he is an artist. I would buy a graphic novel on the Korean tip from David Choe any day.

We will now end our journey on the Austrian design tip. Cities like Gradz and Vienna have been turning out huge talents for centuries, but Pure Austrian Design really brings to light all the product designer talents NOW. It’s been fun exploring this site, and you’ll be sure to find many of the designers in these pages over the next few weeks.

I’m really going to make this a weekly happening. Lazy Tuesdays I thought would be a simple thing to produce. You just add a few links and your done. Nope. It really takes some time. So, I was happy to find that once your website gains a bit of popularity, then a lot of good links just come to you. I really, really like this. Because now I’m not lying when I call this thing Lazy Tuesdays as long is a significant number of good links come in.

Here’s one that I just received from Modern Self, a Los Angeles based DIY and modernism appreciation site. It’s a link to their latest extremely handy article concerning home lighting. It’s a quite good guide on how to light your bachelor pad. Eric, the author, even won a trip to San Francisco with this article.

BTW, I’m at South by Southwest Interactive Media Conference this week chillin’ with my fellow bloggers (sorry for so few posts!). One of the panels I went to a couple of days ago featured a fascinating product that apparently several companies are manufacturing. This product would be the banana guard. The design doesn’t really make sense to me but it is quite unique. The whole reason the banana guard was even mentioned in this panel is that the moderators, Pablo Marque, Todd Purgason, Jason Zada, and Rick Web, were asking for the audience to throw out a random product, and these guys who are all advertising gurus would build a marketing campaign around the product. Someone shouted out :”Banana Guard!” and the rest is in the books… or on the podcasts, at least. So, if you are a marketing exec or business owner of the banana guard, look no further than these guys to come up with your campaign because, in theory, it’s done. You can see the various iterations at BananaGuard.com, SafeBanana.com, and BananaBunker.com if you’re curious.

And Since I’m on the subject of SXSW (as they refer to it), how about more links I learned about at the conference: I went to a great panel which I will forever be indebted to called “from project to business” which was about turning your internet creation into the thing that pays the bills. One panel member has an awesome business where she sells fantastically designed small run DIY type products. Here name is Pixel Girl and she’s real nice. Her insight was useful, but Ted Rheingold and Ryan Carson were also extremely inspirational.

I’ve got tons more links to pump out, actually, but now I’m late for the conference.

First off, how about a quirky Brooklyn bicycle builder brought by Chris Lee. This bike is my new favorite BMX fixie.

Fun Forever has a sweet collection of some really funky chairs. My brother-in-law works in for the NBA, and he would freak over the basketball chair. Wow.

2modern brought to my attention yet another interesting event going down in New York: The Architectural Digest Home Design Show. I must admit, Architectural Digest normally makes me want to scream and run in the opposite direction, but 2modern certainly has swayed my senses into wanting to get a plane ticket.

Josh Spear has featured a YouTube video of Shepard Fairy Murals in San Francisco. I will visit this tomorrow, no doubt. Thanks for bringing this to my attention Josh! I love it.

And finally, here is an OMFG moment. It’s when I first saw the Philips Drag and Draw Light Paint. You’re eyes will pop out of your head when you see this on Gadget Lab.

Over the next week or two, I will include some of my favorite designers from ID Magazine’s “ID 40″ list of top designers of 2006. It’s a pretty amazing list, so I urge you to pick up a copy of this magazine.

Pleix is a group of motion designers and filmmakers based in Paris that really push the limits of tongue and cheek video art. I’ve included a You Tube video of their piece “Birds” in my post, but for subscribers of the newsletter check out this link. The image quality is superb, and I would imagine this group will be in huge demand for commercial work for a very long time to come. If Pleix can make humans wearing the latest fashions look as beautiful as the dogs in this video, then this group is in store for fame and fortune.
