Scott Amron sent me a link to his Die Electric project months ago, and I loved it so much that I wrote a post about it and but somehow it was lost in the ether. Finally, I’m back on the case: Die Electric is a play on dialectic mixed with a little die and a [...]

A reader has requested that I send a quick shout out to all in the interior design community: Do You Know of a Product Rep. in the United States for the two companies Licht Im Raum and Dix Heures Dix? Both manufacturers produce exquisite work, and I would very much like to know if there [...]

Tubes by Tsunami Glassworks was one of the highlights of ICFF for me. I’m a sucker for contemporary glass design, and this work surpassed all others in my opinion. Each piece in Tubes is hand blown and finished, and each piece has its own character and hue. When all pieces are assembled to make a [...]

Etienne Meneau has made what I find to be a design that is baffling in its construction and absolutely jaw dropping in its presentation. Alright, you may be saying to yourself. It’s just a really cool decanter. But how did he do this? Granted, I know nothing of glass construction, so maybe it’s really easy [...]

This product presents a real challenge to my moral compass. One perspective is that [...]

I am vane. Vanity is something that envelopes me. And I often wonder with such vanity, how can I be so overweight? It may be because I am more lazy than I am vane. I’m also curious. And when curiosity makes friends with vanity it makes me want to do things like grow my hair [...]

What would you look for in the perfect museum spotlight? Well, first the color rendering would be impeccable. In fact, it would be nice if a museum curator could dial in his or her ideal color for the light. The light would also be quite small and inconspicuous while looking beautiful. The light would not [...]

Hey! hey! What the f##k is going on here? Which one of these glasses is the original and which is a ripoff? About a year ago I reported on a woman who had created a design for a glass so similar that it feels like an impossible coincidence. The pint glass by Emiko Oki is [...]

This may be one of the flashiest, most insanely gorgeous, and at the same time functional gadgets I have ever seen. A Few minutes after I spent time with this refrigerator, I immediately thought of Angelina Jolie. When I think of Angelina, (we’re on a first name basis, you know) I think of beauty, I [...]

It’s very rare that I look at a product and just say to myself “Awwww, you are so cute!”, but I must admit that I did this when I saw the carafe and jacket by Eva Solo. The object is a simple glass carafe that is quite wide at the base and tapers up. Surrounding [...]

Philips, one of the most innovative companies in the world, has taken a big leap of faith with their new Aurea HDTV. This is no ordinary 1980 x 1080p LCD HDTV. No. It adds two dimensions to the viewing experience that I think are unique with these types of televisions. First, the Aurea is surrounded [...]

Thomas Heatherwick created this beach side cafe in Little Hampton, UK around an extremely strict design cept. The owners wanted to discourage graffiti, which was a problem in the past, by getting rid of any large expanse of flat surface on the building. But it was the building’s intention to be long and thin to [...]

This post comes via Moco Loco. It’s a baroque chair re-purposed as a piece of neon art. The chair is striking, straightforward, iconic, classic, and fresh at the same time. The designer Lee Broom, is a baby faced kid, with a big career ahead of him. I’m excited to see what happens next. BTW, Mr. [...]
