ZEVS, a French based street artists has made his mark as the man who makes the logos of big brands bleed. His term is “visual kidnapping”. The term refers to stealing a brand’s effectiveness by visually altering the meaning of the brand in the public realm. I urge you to read the interview I’ve included, but I think that if I were give cart blanche to overthrow a brand identity such as MacDonald’s I would not just have paint streaming down the sides of the sign. My big idea: create a series of stickers of little yellow men in silhouette that get progressively fatter as they get nearer to the bottom. OK. That’s probably an overdone idea. Next!
