I’ve covered the work of Kyouei Design, but in May I had the opportunity to see all of their products featured at the ICFF in New York. Their work is just so incredibly simple and clever. For instance, their latest design, the Mobile Light is three simple beams and a thin wire. Each beam is made up of several LEDs, a very small turbine, and a very small solar cell. WHen the light moves, it generates power for the LED. Sure, the light is not incredibly powerful, but you can read by the light, and you need to do no more than place it by a window or let it sway in the wind to collect power.
