Doc System Furniture

This has to be one of the most useful pieces of furniture I’ve seen in a long while. It’s called the Doc System, and it folds from a sofa into a bunk bed. I’m, of course, being heavily biased because of the recent arrival of my first child. Here’s the deal, my wife and I own a one bedroom apartment in San Francisco. Space is at a premium here, so I’ve been search for just such a piece. Now would I really use a convertible modern piece of furniture like this? It depends upon how lazy you are. I’m lazy, so in the end, this piece would just stay a sofa or a bunk bed ninety-nine percent of the time.

I rent a small one bedroom in San Francisco and I’m currently on a search for a new sofa. I’m also lazy & I’m sure this piece would also stay in the “sofa” position but it’s very interesting.

Sofa shopping is a bit of a nightmare and I didn’t realize how much trouble I’d have making a decision on my own.

I’ve just discovered the B&B Italia line…but I’ve only seen the pieces online. I fear they are out of my price range but now, that Pottery Barn PB Square is really looking awful to me. I really want a super comfy piece but I’d also like it to be stylish. I had an “in” at the Design Center the last time I purchased a sofa. It’s in good condition but it’s never been what I wanted. I only spent $500 on it so I’m trying to tell myself that I should be able to spend much more on this one! ;) If you have any suggestions and you happen to see this, you can contact me at nancflys at aol dot com. Thanks so much! Nancy

We also live in the Bay Area (East side) and a small house it is. I’m always looking for ways to find more space/storage. I love the furniture that serves a dual purpose. I’ve never seen one like this, it’s very cool! In the kids room we have a bunk bed with storage underneath. It saves space and has tons of storage on the bottom.
