"Bengtsson graduated from Danmarks Designskole in 1997 and from Royal College of Art in London in 1999. Mathias Bengtsson designs and produces modern furniture, which is visually captivating as well as being innovative in its productive technique. As a furniture designer he has created several series including the Slice-series, a sculptural and organic series of furniture created form an array of different materials like aluminium, cardboard or plywood and using a special technique combining the latest computer technology with advanced laser-cutting techniques. He is preoccupied with finding ways to challenge technology by combining techniques and materials from the industrial world with traditional craft techniques. His interest and ongoing research in this field have most recently given rise to an elegant series of jewellery created in cooperation with designer Sara Bengtsson. Mathias Bengtsson’s furniture has been exhibited throughout the world in places like the Röhsska Museum of Design and Decorative Arts and the Design Museum in London. In 2005 Mathias Bengtsson received a 3-year working grant from the Danish Arts Foundation. "
