"Buck completed his goldsmith’s apprenticeship with Gilbert Pretzmann in 1982 graduating from the Institut for Ædelmetal in 1985. Since 1990 he has run his own workshop and gallery and from 1999-2001 he was Adjunct Professor at Högskolen for Design och Konsthantverk at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. He has also designed jewellery for Danish design company Georg Jensen. His work spans a broad range and he emphasizes that his work must inspire functional use. Buck has a highly conceptual approach to his work and in recent years he has been preoccupied with the symbols, conventions and clichés of the trade, trying to highlight and challenge them through his work. This has also been his approach working on the Hollowware bowl. Buck has received a great deal of recognition for his work, i.a. a 3-year working grant from the Danish Arts Council and Ole Haslunds Kunstnerlegat."
