The Maria USB Drive by Luis Eslava for ABR Produccion

Probably every blog and their mother has posted this Maria USB Drive by Luis Eslava from 2004. Unfortunately, most of the blogs (that I’ve seen, at least) have not given credit where credit is due, so definitely check out Luis’ site because Mr. Eslava is a great product designer with a strong sense of joy and humor in his design objects. I’ve linked to him above, so definitely have a look. His products look at such topics as how to make chairs out of recycled water bottles to such badly named but brilliant projects as “Pussylawn” which is a field of grass grown on a vertical surface. The Maria USB is my favorite, though. This product, as you can see, is a USB memory drive in the form of a clear plastic Mother of Jesus. Mary, who is the patron saint of data backups by the way, comes complete with a golden halo, and a red LED heart that lights up when data is being transferred. Those who have any sort of religious superstition, I think, will find this device essential to their collection of amulets and salves to ward off evil data breakers. Oh yeah! You can buy this thing, here. Although, I think you have to contact them for special orders.
