Ana Thompson is a bit of a mystery to me. I really don’t know how I came about getting her URL, but her work is pretty remarkable. I’m assuming she’s pretty young, because there are only a handful of designs on her site and most of the designs are still in the 3D rendering phase. For instance, the Fish Out of Water Lamp: A great concept! Hopefully, I’ll check back to her site to see this in production because it’s a daring and beautiful lamp. Also, I think she’ll find that there are a number of things that would bring this lamp to life if she were to actually build the lamp. First, why not make it into an actual fish bowl? The intensity of the bulb casting a shadows of swimming fishes on the walls would be a quite a treat. This would almost bring a higher meaning to the lamp. The lamp would bring a voice and a presence to a small aquarium fish that has never been known before. Or, Maybe just bubbles are added to the lamp for effect. I don’t know. There’s a lot of opportunity for play here.

Cool idea, but as for adding fish: remember the Easy Bake Oven and how it cooks ‘real’ food with just the heat from a light bulb? Adding fish that close to a bulb would net you bouillabaise in a few hours.

How about tropical fish?
I had considered this, and still I think it would be fun to see extra large fish shadows on my wall.
