Mobile PC by Antenna Design for Fujitsu

This is a prototype design from a firm called Antenna Design for a new type of laptop. It’s basically made of three leaves that fold together to create a much smaller area than the current laptops, but the advantage to this design is the user would have a full size keyboard, which I love. Antenna, by the way, is very adept at solving problems of interaction design. They’ve worked on such high profile projects as the Bloomberg Trading Terminal among others, so their ability to integrate humans and technology is vast. Back to the 23/6 for Fujitsu… I was reading Antenna’s concept for this machine, and the more I understand, the more compelling it gets. This machine sort of fits a gap that has yet to be filled. That is, it’s larger and more robust than a micro PC (and obviously easier to use since micro devices don’t have full keybords) and it’s much smaller and lightweight than a traditional laptop. Probably the best design element is you can just flip up the top of the device, without opening the keyboard, and you’ve got a portable gaming device / DVD player. I would think there would be a great market for this type of device especially with people who ride public transport or fly a lot. It’s the ultimate device for the low space computing arena.
