Gyanze Amp and Speakers

I now issue the challenge for today: if you know any possible way to buy these mythical iPod speakers, then let me know. I honestly doubt that these speakers exist. I’ve even read about them in magazines (our print friend who supposedly checks facts) and still I can’t find these speakers anywhere. So what’s the deal anyway? This is the supposed end-all-be-all of iPod speakers. Weighing in at a hefty 12 pounds, this Mack Truck of speaker and amplifier provides what people claim is a superior sound for the iPod. The construction of this model is made of a solid aluminum chasis, and it will cost you $1,300. There is even a website for the product, if you want to try to buy it at www.gyanze.com. If you go to the site, it looks totally fake. Although, I did notice in the sites code that they are using google analytics (a site tracking software) to gather data on who and how many people are coming to their site. I honestly think that this product is a ploy, and was designed to track buzz built in the blogosphere. Anyone that can prove me wrong will win a free Design Crack T-shirt!

I’ve seen and heard this elusive machine in Tokyo with my own eyes and ears a year ago. I have also been trying to track an eseller to no avail. I did however find a site for a new store in the Omotosando shopping centre in Tokyo selling them. Sadly the site is Japanese only so my hunt continues. FYI the sound as well as the design of the amp was breathtaking.

    Hi,

I own on of these beauties. Just moved from Tokyo. Bought it in Omotesando in the Mori shopping center. It is truly amazing. I found this blog because the guy who was installing my new home theatre saw it as he was passing by my home office (I use it as a speaker for my iMac) and he wanted to see on the net. When I played some Amy Winehouse, he said “where’s the subwoofer”.

    I want that tee-shirt.

If you want to get one, I could arrange that in October when I visit again. Its a nice thing to still have a Japanese secretary.
