Recycled Bags By Maldita Adelita

Recycled Bags By Maldita Adelita

You know, originally when I started this post way back in November of 2006, I wanted to show the world these wild handbags. The purses in the picture above are made by Maldita Adelita (which sounds made up to me) and are made of recycled plastic bags cut into strips and woven into the striking fabric. I could talk about her creations and blah blah. I want to get to the bigger picture which is to speak of event that Ms. Adelita presented these designs: DRAP-ART 06- The International Creative Recycling Festival. I really wish I could have been at last years festival because they bring a large community of artists and designers together to work collectively on problems such as ” How the heck do we use all this stuff?”. A couple of weeks ago was Earth Day. Maybe this is already done, but it makes me wonder if we shouldn’t have a DRAP-ART in every major city in the country to encourage people to find interesting ways to recycle products.
