Is Ross Lovegrove really a green designer? He designs in a way that mimics natural organisms in form. Some would say that simply mimicking the form of a natural surface for the purposes of making a lovely chair is a bit of a design cop-out. There are no lessons learned from the natural object he is using that goes any further than the concept that the natural object is real pretty and therefore the chair he is designing will be real pretty. I would say that this criticism can sometimes be true of Ross Lovegrove, but most of the time this criticism simply does not understand the full design process that Mr. Lovegrove and his staff have gone through to develop a product. Find out first-hand from the master from his compelling video from last year’s TED conference in Monterey.
