The Hanger Chair by Pottinger and Cole is an elegant solution to the problem of saving space in an apartment. No, the chair doesn’t fold up. It hangs up high and out of the way. Pottinger and Cole have ingeniously integrated a coat hanger into the chair back allowing the user of the chair to put the chair up out of the way when not being used. I could see this chair being a hit in a loft apartment where floor area is at a minimum but room height is tall. These chairs are so beautiful that when not used and array of chairs could be hung from hooks on the wall creating a contemporary art piece.
Although not pictured here, each chair comes with a built-in drawer right beneath the seat. Again, this is a handy little space saver. The only thing that may be a bit troubling having this conveniently placed drawer directly underneath the seat is a guests tendency to want to put things in the drawer. What if you’re a bad cook, for instance. I could imagine a scenario where a dinner guest, not wanting to be rude, stuffs this drawer with your mediocre dinner as a means to avoid a confrontation. My suggestion then is don’t buy these chairs if you’re a bad cook.
Since this is a blog, I can ponder a bit. I suspect that P&Cs real design idea with the chair is to allow an obvious place for a dinner guest’s coat to be hung when called to the table. This chair is so multifaceted!

[…] What can I say, this chair looks at least interesting, but I don’t know how comfortable it is, maybe if you add a cushion to support your back. This chair is designed to save some space, so when you don’t use it you can hung it from hooks on the wall creating a contemporary art piece ( but I don’t know how many of you might consider a hung chair an art ).In conclusion, an interesting idea, but not to useful. - Via - Design Crack - Designed by Pottinger and Cole.
