Bags by Marielle Wichards

Bags by Marielle Wichards

The bags by Marielle Wichards are perfect in their simplicity. The essence of the design is a it’s flatness. It is made of two to three strips of leather dyed to an intense color and sewn in a simple pattern which keeps the bag fairly flat. Each bag has two punched holes about three quarters of the way up the bag allowing the top quarter (if the bag’s not completely full) to fold down and create a smaller profile. The way the bag flips down is reminiscent to one of my favorite bicycling bags, The Ortleib Pannier, which also expands and contracts as needed. There are dozens of combinations of colors, sizes, and strap styles, and I like that there are more and more companies doing the mix and match options. However, I don’t really think their online store will work for most customers. It sucks, but maybe it’s just because sales volumes don’t warrant a decent online point of sale.
