This shoe from Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2007 collection is the most graceful interpretations of where sneaker meets stiletto that I have seen. I can’t even really trace when or where the trend started happening, but none of that matters anymore since this shoe became available. The shoe is even more of an amalgamation of sneaker and evening heel. It has a spattering of Victorian influence in its laced up blackness. The shoe also has a kind of futuristic bent in its larger scale mimicry of carbon fiber cloth but translated in what appears to be patent leather. The shoe even seems to pay homage to Birkenstock in the way the toe of the shoe slightly bulbs out at the front. Still, the shoe easily holds its own. It’s no Franken-shoe.

Wow! what a shoe! It looks like a cross between futuristic and victorian, very 21st century gothic.
