Solar Audiobag by Tonylight

Solar Audiobag by Tonylight

Tonylight is an Italian designer who came to my attention through a light fixture he designed that was featured in Wallpaper Magazine. So, of course, I was thinking here’s a refined designer. You know, black turtleneck an all that. But when I checked out his website what I got was a number of hacker art projects. They range from modifying a hard drive into a speaker to make some of the most disturbing noises I’ve heard to dynamic LED space invaders hacked together with his computer. But my favorite project of all is the Solar Audiobag. It has so much potential! It’s a suitcase mashed together with a huge ass stereo with a portable solar array powering the whole deal. The bag is actually an instrument, according to Tonylight, that was built with the intention to give mobility to his Nintendo Gameboy 8 bit music which he has hacked together.

By the way, Tonylight’s treatise on the Audiobag is in Italian which, unfortunately, I do not read, so I used AltaVista’s Babel Fish to translate which was hilarious. Here’s a piece of that translation:

More than a portable instrument than amplification, the Audio Solar Bag is one life philosophy. To half road between logic of the Transformer and ethics of “I give it yourself”, the Bag is a simple one trolley that it is transformed to the occurrence in powerful means in order to make music in road. Its small wheels too much give back to the instrument its freedom, while the small solar paddle gives to a air ecologist likeably to it, cheap because it joins shown.
