Genius Table by Arash and Kelly

I’m not a genius, but I know more than a couple of them, and if they have a singular trait it would be that they always need a pen and paper handy for sketching ideas. Now, along comes: The Genius Table! OK, Arash and Kelly’s design has been out since 1999. But it’s new to me which is all that counts. It’s a genius idea for geniuses. It’s a huge pad of Post-It notes integrated into the top of a table. You know, I live in what some people consider to be innovation central, San Francisco, and I’m thinking, “Why doesn’t every business buy of of these for each of their conference rooms?”. I’ve participated in a lot of brainstorms over the years, and we would have killed to have The Genius Table in the room. I’m talking to my boss right after I finish this post. Oh, also there are a number of other genius products that you might find cool. Definitely have a look.

  1. Design Crack » Blog Archive » The Big Clip by Arash and Kelly Says:

[…] Sometimes, a great idea is great at any scale. Take the paper clip, for example. Here’s an extremely simple device made from a small length of cheap wire that solves two fantastically simple problems: 1. How do I easily hold these paper documents together, but also have the freedom to take a document out if I want? 2. How do I do this extremely cheaply? The paper clip, of course, solves these problems elegantly. So bigger means better, right? Well, kind of. I would say that Arash and Kelly’s Big Clip is a simple solution as a coat hook, but does not really meet the high level of solutions met by its smaller counterpart. So, maybe the paper clip is not incredibly awesome at any scale. I guess the Big Clip really just looks cool super-sized. In contrast to the Big Clip, Arash and Kelly have also designed super-sized PostIt Notes furniture. The big PostIt really lends itself to the bumping up of the scale. I always find myself wanting a bigger PostIt and running out of room, so I have to string several PostIts along to finish a thought. Now with Arash and Kelly’s solutions to the full page size notes, I can really write down how I feel and have people be able to read this clear across a large conference room which comes in handy at a brainstorming session.
