Flood Light by Julie Mathias & Michael Cross

Flood Light is a lamp that defies logic. It’s a lamp made from four simple elements: glass jars, light bulbs, electric cables, and water. Doesn’t anyone see anything dangerous here? Live wires and water, my mom always told me, equal an early death by electrocution. I tend to believe my mother, so I developed a fear of anything electric mixed with water, however when I saw this lamp I just wanted to take it home and call all my friends to come over and see it. The affect that this lamp has on me is like swimming through man-made kelp forests in red illuminated from below. The play of shadows created by Flood Light makes this lamp one of the most seductive I’ve ever seen.
