Ah Prada. I remember several years ago when I bought my first fake pair of Prada shoes. They had all the details including (and most importantly) the characteristic red stripe on the back for gawkers to see. They were beautiful in a plastic-smelling, exploited Chinese worker sort of way, but no one suspected they were fake. I’m an architect after all, right? Wrong. Architects get paid crap. We can’t afford Prada. So, when these Prada stylish sunglasses recently arrived in the stores, I knew my wait might be over. I might own an object cobbled by hook backed, old Florentine men stooped over their 16th century work benches. Now I haven’t bought my Prada sunglasses just yet, but I’ll get around to it. How smart it was for Prada to make the most prominently displayed fashion item their cheapest. It helps out all of us who had only dreamed of owning the brand.

I am looking for the perfect pair of sunglasses, too. I lost my favorite D&G sunglasses (the first glasses I had ever splurged on) in Seville. And I swear, I have never recovered. But I think I need to move through my grief now:-)
