Over the next week or two, I will include some of my favorite designers from ID Magazine’s “ID 40″ list of top designers of 2006. It’s a pretty amazing list, so I urge you to pick up a copy of this magazine.
Groove Visions is a Tokyo based design collective with a cool little store on their site. I really want to expound upon the group in much more detail, but I have to go to work, so that will not happen. However, definitely go check out their store online to get a sense of what they do. A couple of things: don’t miss their flash store, which is actually a link within their sort of first store thingy. It’s kinda confusing. Second, if you’re not into cutesy, character based pixel art, then don’t bother checking out the site. I kinda like this genre, though, so there you are.
I chose to include the pillow cover in my list of design crack because the fabric’s print represents a pretty comprehensive collection of stuff that must be had by every human in industrialized society. There’s something about laying my head on a representation of every tool I would ever need that smacks of something deep. I just don’t know what that is.
