2007 Collection Samantha Pleet

Samantha Pleet is a young Brooklyn based designer fresh out of school just last year. Despite her young age, or maybe because of it, Ms. Pleet has produced an extremely competent and thoughtful collection. The color palette for her 2007 collection are muted greys and blacks with accents of red. It’s very unfortunate that my knowledge of fashion history is so weak because I’m looking for an analogy for Samantha’s collection and all I can think of is: it’s a combination of Flashdance and Pat Benatar circa “Heartbreaker”. But, that describes every woman in Brooklyn practically, so I need to dig deeper. How about Pat mixed with a toch of highschool wrestling outfits and burkas? You tell me.
