Over the next week or two, I will include some of my favorite designers from ID Magazine’s “ID 40″ list of top designers of 2006. It’s a pretty amazing list, so I urge you to pick up a copy of this magazine.
The 62 is a Brooklyn based collaborative that is hard for me to put my finger on. They work in any media they can get their hands on and are brilliant at anything they touch. If I were to be forced to put them in a box, I would say they are a combination of Russian born artist El Lissitzky and San Francisco bicycle artists Cyclecide. That is to say that the artists have a biting wit, a penchant for collage, and a hatred of wasted goods. One brilliant item on their website that I think is not necessarily a definitive piece (but I love) is the “dueling guitars”. You can find it in the section called ” Experiment” It’s really a joy.
