Description: The project was an grid of squares embedded within the entrance walkway of an existing office building. Each square was illuminated by LEDs and was pressure sensitive. The effect is that the LED lights would light up when anyone walked over them. The building also had a massive Grid of lights on the facade of the building that corresponded with the lights at the entrance, so the neighbors knew approximately how many people were coming and going simply by watching which way the grids streaked by.

The concept and implementation, I feel, are great community building devices. Not only do people from near and far come to your building to interact with the entrance walkway (which builds an impromptu community), but also the neighbors interact by keeping tags on all the comings and going simply by watching the facade. Brilliant.
