Description: The Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum is about to begin it’s 2006 Design Triennial starting December 8th and running through July 29th. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be profiling several of the objects from the 87 designers that have been chosen for the event.
Alison Berger is an extraordinary glassmaker who has created a beautiful line of glass pendant for Plug Lighting. I choose this light in particular because of its dramatic effect in controlling a room with such a seemingly subtle object. The Word Pendant is a narative in glass and light, something that is profound but not overwhelming. I’m in love.

Agreed…this is excellent. Did you happen to see Low Rez Hi Fi? Not exactly sure what it is but I think I want to marry it.

I’m on the lookout for it. Do you have a link to Low Res Hi Fi?

[...] Tonerico is a Tokyo based collective of designers with a focus on austere interior design, but the work that really turns my crank isn’t their store designs. It’s this lamp produced by Cassina. It’s not unlike a work I blogged about several weeks ago by Alison Berger where the light reveals letters or numbers. Alisons piece is pretty personal and narrative, but this piece is more accessible in its price as well as its generic quality. [...]
