Marlin by Ontwerpers

Object: The Marlin Lounge Chair

Designer: Ontwerpers

Category: Furniture and Housewares

Price: $1,000

Lust Factor: Warm

Description: Last week was the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. I, unfortunately, am too poor to go to any international design events this winter, so I’ll feature a few of the designers that have been featured in the Dutch Design Week in recent years.

Ontwerpers is not afraid of making alien furniture. A great deal of the work from this design house (including the Marlin chair I mention here) feels as it were taken off of the Starship Enterprise. The seat is darn comfortable regardless of the shape. Also, I love the detailing of the chair. In particular, the chair’s baseball stitching between leather pieces are reminiscent of gloves, and the chair itself cradles you like a glove.
