The Symphony Bench by OFS
OFS is a stodgy, boring, but also very capable furniture manufacturer based in the heart of the U.S., Huntingburg Indiana. It’s like one of those companies that is probably a Bershire Hathaway company. It’s deeply seeded in it’s all bread and butter, go to church on Sundays, have a night out at the movies with the family each week, eat lots of saturated fat until your foot falls off kind of place. I do think there is a glimmer of hope that may bring the company out of complete dullness: The Symphony Bench. This bench is almost there. It’s like a billowing dress, a sine wave, a beach, or a landscape of low hills. It’s simply beautiful, or beautiful and simple. Its lines give the bench firmness, but the piece also seems to float. I just can’t say enough about this bench, however it’s not perfect. I think its frame, although light, could still have some material shaved off of it and still maintain its structural integrity. Still, I feel if OFS continued to push in this direction that may be able to really differentiate their products and open up new opportunities.
