NOHO Buildings

First, I should say that I’m not a New Yorker, so what should I call the area around Bowery near the New Museum? If it’s NoHo, then I’ve hit it. Two of these buildings are on Bond Street which really gained prominence with the fabulously stylish Herzog and DeMeuron condo building. Across the street from the H+DeM building is a beautifully articulated brick building whose designer is unknown to me… or should I say I’ve been too lazy to figure it out.

Needless to say, this brick building is details perfectly and substantially. If only we could have thoughtful buildings like this in SF.

Of course, in San Francisco, we do have a Morphosis building. This one is a student center for Cooper Union. They’ve worked very hard to carve out a space in the center that is dynamic. Very hard.

I’ve included the image below because it is a straight out copy of the IAC building. To me it’s about as interesting, but without the big name architect.
