Cone Speakers by Broberg Ridderstrale
I’m always on the hunt for items that are designed in such a way that you can’t quite tell what they are unless someone tells you. The Cone Speakers by Broberg Ridderstrale are one of these items. I mean, OK, sure there are wires coming out of the back of them, but the speakers lay helpless on their side in such a way that they could be mistaken for a pendant lamp that someone has neglected to install. So, in a way, the speakers are always appearing that they are in transition. But wait! There is method behind this madness. The beauty of these speakers doesn’t necessarily stem from their simple white ceramic shell. The beauty stems from the sound they emit. And, as Broberg Ridderstrale notes, their sound is just about perfect when the cones are placed in opposite corners of the room. The cones point the sound up simply by the nature of their shape giving an aural experience that is as sublime as there visual presence.
